The City of Lowell provides a separate truck to pick up your yard waste. It is illegal for yard waste to go into the garbage truck. Grass and leaves need to be in brown paper leaf bags or loose in a barrel. Do not use plastic bags for yard waste, they will be collected. Yard Waste stickers are available for your barrels if they are used for yard waste only. Bags or Barrels must weigh no more than 35 pound. The City of Lowell does not provide Christmas Trees pickup.
Yard waste pickup ends on your last garbage day in November. Stickers can be picked up at Department of Public Works, Health, City Hall (Rm 34) and at the Senior Center. Do not mix yard waste with usual garbage.

Belvidere Hill is a Historic District along Fairmount Street. Lower Belvidere is the section west of Nesmith Street. Back Central is an urban area south of downtown, toward the mouth of River Meadow Brook. South Lowell is the area south of the railroad and east of the Concord River. Other neighborhoods in this ZIP Code are Ayers City, Bleachery, Chapel Hill, the Grove, Oaklands, Riverside Park, Swede Village, and Wigginsville, but use of those names is mostly antiquated.
The ZIP Code 01854 is The northwestern portion of the city and includes Pawtucketville; the University of Massachusetts Lowell; and the Acre. Pawtucketville is the official entrance to the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest.
